Design of a lesson plan of local history and its associated resources for teachers and students were done as a part of Instruction Design course at IDC. The concern was a result of NCF 2005, which quoted “Why has education become a burden rather than a source of joy?”. Education should be something where children are given space to reflect, get curious and discover knowledge rather than relying on just a textbook.
Therefore the task was to define and design how to teach local history to secondary class (6th to 10th standard) students. The design should include learning materials for teachers as well as students. The teacher should be able to complete the lesson in 3-4 class periods and perhaps and additional half day of field trip.
This was the final assignment of the two week course.
